The Tohono O’odham Utility Authority is pleased to announce that we will be sending three deserving students to Washington, D.C. this year! Therefore, we are inviting all high school juniors to enter the Washington Youth Tour essay contest. Three students will be selected to represent TOUA in the Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative Association’s Washington Youth Tour 2024. The students will enjoy a week-long stay in the Nation’s Capital with visits to famous sites and the opportunity to meet their peers in planned student activities. The Washington Youth Tour provides the opportunity to travel with other students from the State of Arizona, and to meet many students representing rural cooperatives across the country!
If you are a high school junior and your parents or guardians are customers of TOUA, you qualify to enter the essay contest and win the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C. The contest has two parts, one part is the essay which will be scored and the top five submissions will be interviewed. Three winners and an alternate will be announced Friday, January 19, 2024.
The trip is scheduled for June 15 – 22, 2024. The winners will travel with the Arizona delegation to Washington, D.C., to view famous landmarks and historical sites and to meet with elected officials.
