Space Heater Safety
Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from flammable items like papers, clothing, or curtains.
Keep space heaters on a flat, level surface. Avoid placing them on rugs or carpet. Never place heaters on tables or furniture.
Never leave a space heater unattended. Turn it off when you leave the room or go to sleep.
Space heaters are only meant to provide supplemental heat and should never be used to warm bedding, cook food, dry clothes or thaw pipes.
Plug space heaters directly into wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or power strip, which could overheat and result in a fire. Do not plug any other electrical device into the same outlet as the heater.
Always unplug and safely store the heater when it is not in use.
When it’s cold outside, a space heater can be the perfect way to create a warm, comfortable living area. Space heaters can be an affordable option when you’re looking to quickly and easily supplemet your home’s central heating system.
